American History: History of the United States: From Indians to Modern History of America. People, Places and Events that Shaped US History by Andrew White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
American History, by Andrew White, is a book primarily focused on the history of the United States of America and the events that shaped it to the country of everyone’s dreams. The book reflects upon the facts varying from the discovery of the said land, its invasion by the British, the building up of colonies vis a’ vis the land of the invaders and the invaded. How did the invasion precipitate, and what transpired thereafter that made U.S.A. the Novus Mundus is the focus of this book.
As the name suggests, the book falls under the ‘History’ genre and is neatly structured. It is prima facie divided into three parts inter alia an introduction, 7 neatly presented chapters and conclusion.
Every chapter is precise and consists of a pop quiz at the end of it. Unlike the other books of this genre, the author doesn’t deviate from its purpose and keeps the dialect interesting. There are times when one perceives the clever usage of words in the book, and the fact that the author has taken cue(s) from celebrated stories. Thus, one can feel him reflecting upon his profession.
The book is a good read for people who have a knack for knowledge. Although, I feel that the author can do away with un-established facts. My suggestion- look forward to learning something new. Remember, Columbus discovered America but it was named after ‘Amerigo Vespucci’.
