What difference does colour make?

“Is that your friend?”

“Yea dad! And he is quite intelligent.”

“Well! He is dark. I can’t even see his face clearly.”

“It’s a dark photograph dad. Trust me, his face is visible enough just like his personality.”

“Where is he from?”

“He is from India.”

“Definitely not a Christian. A Muslim? Or a Hindu?”

“An agnostic probably, but yes, his ancestors are Muslims.”

“Doesn’t he look suspicious? I mean he has got a weird name. Erm… you sure you want to be friends with this guy? You are white and a Christian. Together, you guys would look like a zebra strip.”

“Don’t worry dad! We gel well together, like milk with black- tea. “

“Will you feel comfortable visiting him and his family? You’ll keep fighting like the pieces of chess. You can find better friends here, I mean people with similar beliefs who are fair skinned too.”

“It alright dad. Don’t worry, he is super-intelligent and sincere. Do you want some ice-cream or chocolate? How about I get you some?”

“I shouldn’t eat deserts, but, I guess one scoop will not do much harm.”

“Vanilla or chocolate? Oh, apologies  for my absurdity, you prefer Vanilla of course!”

“What? No, I prefer Chocolate. That too dark.”

“But Dad, Vanilla is what you must have. After all, it’s white.”

“What difference does the color make?”

“Exactly dad. Exactly!
